Half-Yearly June Event 2018

The June 2018 Meeting will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 9 June 2018 in Lecture Theatre 1 of the Appleton Tower, George Square. There will be a free light buffet lunch beforehand, from 12.30,  with an opportunity to see some of the IIG projects on display, and afterwards there will be a presentation on “A history of the University of Edinburgh Library through to a vision of its future” and Gavin McLachlan, Chief Information Officer and Librarian to the Library, will give a talk on lifelong learning and the use of digital technology in education. The informal committee meeting will be followed by a tour of the Main Library, including a visit to the Special Collections and the Exhibition. Filled with illustrated school texts, how-to-guides, scientific diagrams, and children’s picture books, How? Why? What? explores the many ways in which drawn and painted images were used to enhance different forms and stages of learning in the mid-20th century.
