The next Statutory Half-Yearly Meeting will take place on Saturday 16 February 2019 in the newly refurbished School of Law in the Old College Quad. An early tour of the new facilities, by Professor Martin Hogg, Head of the School of Law, is planned for before the meeting at 9.30am, and will give members an opportunity to see some of the significant changes and renovations that have transformed this building. Those who wish to take part in the tour should please contact the General Council Office as capacity is limited.
If you wish to attend the General Council Half-Yearly Meeting please register via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/general-council-half-yearly-meeting-ticke... Registration is for the meeting only and does not include Lunch in the Playfair Library.
If you would like to book for the Lunch, read on and follow the link to pay.
Refreshments will be available from 10am in the MacLaren Stuart Room G.159. The meeting will take place at 10.30am in Lecture Theatre 1.264 and our Principal, Professor Peter Mathieson, will present the Annual Report from the University. If you have a question you would like to ask the Principal please email it to: GeneralCouncilQuestions@hotmail.co.uk, either beforehand or during the meeting, and the Principal will endeavour to answer as many as possible. Any that are not covered on the day will be answered by email afterwards. The event will be livestreamed, for those who cannot join us in person. You can watch online by clicking the 'webcast' tab in the media section of this website. Given the proximity to Brexit we have particularly invited the University's alumni clubs in Europe to engage with us online for this occasion including submitting questions to the Principal.
As usual following the Half-Yearly Meeting, members of the General Council, alumni, partners, family and friends are cordially invited to the General Council Reception and Lunch in the Playfair Library. We look forward to welcoming our after-lunch speaker Professor John. W. Cairns, Professor of Civil Law at the University, who will give what promises to be a fascinating account of the history of the Old Quad.
